UK Stabilisation Unit
The Stabilisation Unit is a civil-military operational unit based in London.
They support integrated coordination of government work in fragile and conflict-affected states, acting as a centre of expertise on conflict, stabilisation, security and justice. The Stabilization Unit also support government responses on crises like the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, by focusing on conflict, instability and security aspects caused by this situation.
As a part of this work, they train and deploy qualified and experienced civilian experts to support government work in conflict situations, and to multilateral missions on behalf of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
The Stabilisation Unit is responsible for:
- being the link between civil and military efforts to build stability overseas
- building cross-government working and lesson learning in planning for and responding to conflict
- keeping records of lessons on stabilisation work for the government to refer to responding to our governments needs in fragile and conflict affected states
